What is a ayurvedic health coach? And how did you become one?

A Ayurvedic Health Coach is a holistic health professional that specialies in the science of Ayurveda and coaches their clients to achieve optimal mind-body-spirit balance through natural Ayurvedic healing solutions and deep spiritual transformation. I trained as an Ayurvedic Health Consultant in the U.K and in Kerala, India, specialising in Ayurvedic nutrition, lifestyle, pharmacy, panchakarama and clinical yoga. The depth of my healing skills broadens across being certified in life coaching, mindful mental health, inner child therapy and energy healing modalities.

What interests you most about healing?

Everything! I am absolutely fascinated every day and utterly obsessed with my souls purpose and gifts in the healing arts. What interests me the most overall and what drew me personally to Ayurveda in the first place is the mind-body connection. Amongst the hundreds of clients i have worked with dealing with severe chronic and mystery illnesses and feeling stuck in life, underneath the root cause of human suffering and pain is always the same; the lack of self love, feeling unworthy, and unprocessed emotions and trau- ma. When we begin to heal from the root (the cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine) the physical body heals, the mind calms and spirit becomes alive once again. Ayurvedic healers are experts in understanding what the body truly needs to heal and what the human soul needs to feel at peace. My Ayurvedic health and healing methodology takes you deep inside yourself into parts of your heart and mind you never knew existed, it takes love, courage, and strength, but after that, you have opened the doors to a life long journey of the deepest self love you have ever known.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

I wholeheartedly love my ‘job’, it’s not actually my job, its my purpose and the reason my soul is on this earth, or ‘dharma’ as we say in Ayurveda. The deeper spiritual philosophy of Ayurvedic medicine and the reason it was gifted to humanity teaches that without health you cannot live your purpose and a life of true fulfillment, joy and bliss. Living ones purpose is the greatest gift, Ayurveda is practiced for the purpose of dharma, so each soul in their human bodies can truly live the life they are meant too while they are here! The parts that are challenging in moments are the depths of trauma i hold space for to heal within sessions, as a human being that feels deeply it has taken alot of energetic resilience and training as an empath to ensure i don’t absorb it all. I am able to hold space with ease as i have such unwavering faith that anyone who comes into my care will heal, no matter how painful their story or past. Many clients i support have been through the most inexplicable traumas, and have been failed elsewhere in the medical systems and have lost all hope. My purpose is to bring them out of the dark- ness and back into the light in their hearts, to reiginte their faith that they have the power to heal and to teach them the tools to do so.

What benefits would you expect to see from working with an ayurvedic health coach?

Each coach will bring their own unique essence and skills, but specifically working with my Ayurvedic health and healing methodology expect to see deep mind-body-spirit transformation and the empowerment of becoming you own healer. Expect to embark on the most beautiful path of self love, self healing and self discovery, loving who you are and the body you are in. We dive deep into Ayurvedic lifestyle, rituals, self care, nutrition, herbal medicine, beliefs, mindset, inner child healing, shadow work, spiritual transformation and more. It is truly magical!

What areas of wellness would you say are the most important?

All pillars of wellness are equally as important, however the key foundations are definitely sleep, nutrition and exercise. These are the basics to create healthy stability for physical health, mental function, emotional balance and healing. Sleep being the most important one, when our sleep is effected all other areas of our health, digestion and balance are effected too. Ayurveda always brings wellness back to basics, get to bed on time, eat well and move yur body! Taking great care of our health is not meant to be complicated, it is meant to bring joy, vitality, nourishment and ease.

If someone is struggling with their physical or men- tal health, what advice would you give to kick start their journey?

  1. JOURNALING: Get your thoughts out! Journal everyday for 15 min- utes, it is an absolute must to start cleansing your mind and processing your thoughts. You can use prompts to get your started — once you start you wont be able to stop! In Ayurveda the vata dosha governs the mind, when this do- sha is aggravated it can feel like a tornado whirling in our heads if we don’t do something about it. Journaling anchors your thoughts out from the ethers and into the physical plane, you can then re ect on them, process them, and bring a more rational awareness before slipping into a cycle of over think- ing and panic. Most importantly, by journaling we are disrupting neural pathways in the brain on a loop of negative bias thinking and able to divert where the mind is going and take your power back. There are 8 different journaling methods so nd what feels best for you and go from there.

  2. FEEL YOUR EMOTIONS: This is so vital, i cant express enough how vital this is! However, unfortunately for the most of us, we have been raised in a culture that has taught us to numb, hide, suppress and shut away our emo- tions out of fear, shame. and guilt. This dated and detrimental mentality of shaming the most basic human primal function of having an emotional intel- ligence is making us sick. The emotional intelligence is the bridge between your mental and physical health, you have to feel to heal and to begin to get your mind in balance by processing what is going on inside. One of the most life changing things i teach my soul clients is how to properly feel and integrate their emotions in a healthy manor. In Ayurveda we understand the mind-body connection and that undigested emotions in the body are actually more toxic than undigested foods. Empowered connection with your emo- tional intelligence is true liberation for navigating the highs and lows through life, you are resilient through it all. Feel your fear, sadness, joy, excitement– feel it all! Its a celebration you are alive, emotions are the greatest gift.

  3. NUTRITION: Food is medicine in Ayurveda and the food we eat has a di- rect impact on the way we feel and how our brain functions. If we are lling our body with sugary, processed, fried, junk and oily foods for example, this is going to have a direct impact on our mental health. You are going to feel lethargic, heavy, lazy, low, irritable with irregular mood swings, blood sugar spikes, energy crashes, and unstable sleep, just as a by product of the physi- ological response the body has to the speci c chemicals in the food and how they effect the psychological impact of the mind. In Ayurveda we under- stand that wholesome foods closest to their natural form are the most nour- ishing and healing for the body. In your diet get plenty of hydration, fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices to promote a clear mind, stable energy and balanced mood. Beginning to become conscious of the foods we are consuming and what we are putting into our body is usually the rst step on any healing journey, as we cannot heal and transform our mind-body-spirit if what we are fueling our vessels with is not nutritious or sustainable for long term health and dis-ease prevention. If you want a healthy mind you must start with the food on your plate.

  4. PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT: Most importantly, if you are struggling with your mental health talk to someone you trust and seek professional support. Relying on advice from friends or family does not equal to re- ceiving appropriate professional mental health support. Take your men- tal health seriously, if you are struggling, feeling low, irregular moods, anxious, depressed — reach out to professionals who can help you. The only thing you will regret is not doing it sooner. It is safe to speak up and get the guidance you need. You do not have to suffer in silence or struggle alone. Humans begin to heal when we are held, heard, and seen in a safe loving space with someone we trust.
